EDU: I have been an instructor at the Palm Beach Photographic Centre for 10 years. I share this passion with students in various engaging, informative, and fun workshops.
Capturing the American Landscape
From the hazy Everglades to the vast indigo mountains of the American West, I use my camera to capture the unimaginable, the profound, and the uncommon. For 20 years as a professional photographer, my mission has been to explore our relationship with nature, the environment and how these intersect with art and technology. Post Covid and after my parents’ loss in 2020, I embarked on a 12,000-mile road trip reigniting my love of Photography and Wilderness.
Recent Work
I photographed the final 747 and the build team for Boeing. I also covered several concerts, including Kool and the Gang and Daughtry, all while covering wildfires in Washington State and the resulting horrendous air quality in Seattle. On my first week with Zuma Press, I made their pictures of the day. In addition, the same photo was picked up in the Guardian UK’s Photos of the Day.
Twenty Years of Experience
I studied history and photography for 4 years at Rutgers University. I convinced my History Thesis Professor to let me do a 30 image photographic essay as my thesis. In the mid 90’s I moved into digital in a big way, studying Multimedia Production at The Art Institute of Seattle. I was among the first to earn a degree in this field. I have worked on both commercial and editorial assignments. Some of my clients include the 20th Century Fox: The X-Files, A&E Networks: The History Channel’s Great Race, and REI on a conservation campaign to set aside part of the Issaquah Plateau (a fast-growing area near Seattle) as a park for future generations.
As a digital photographer, I always have my eye on the horizon. Photography is constantly evolving; new technologies, editing software, and mobile devices are the future. Social media makes sharing a photographic journey instantaneous and interactive. This is something I’ve been preparing for since the days of film photography. Today, the right image at the right time can change your entire life in an instant. I want my students to be ready for that moment.
