Four gray wolves arrived at Woodland Park Zoo a few weeks ago. They have settled in after being given some space to acclimatize to their new surroundings. The National Park Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife have finalized a plan to reintroduce Grizzly Bears to North Cascades National Park. The plan calls for 3 to 7 bears to be released yearly, with a target of 25. From there, the hope is that the population will grow to 200.

The ongoing photographic series, ‘Photographing Animals in the Anthropocene,’ explores the enduring narratives of animals’ lives among humans, a relationship depicted since the era of cave paintings. Recent stories include the initiative to eliminate half a million Barred Owls, the reintroduction of Grizzly Bears to the North Cascades in Washington State, the first Wolf to receive a pacemaker, and the birth of Snow Leopard cubs at the Woodland Park Zoo, which contributes to the genetic diversity of this critically endangered species.
